What does Gibraltar want?

A Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) opinion poll (May 1998) showed that 60% of the electorate believed that the Chief Minister should meet the Spanish Foreign Minister. The respondents were also asked – 'Which is your preferred status for Gibraltar? The answers were:

1. retention of the status quo 8%
2. integration with the UK 29%
3. integration with Spain 0%
4. condominium 10%
5. Crown Dependency Status 26%
6. free association with the UK 16%
7. independence 11%.
