Translation of taped conversation that took place in
<DELETED> on <DELETED>. While the transcript has been
altered to remove incriminating names, we believe the
conversations took place as stated.
<SUBJECT 95>: I'm a little concerned about trying to extend
the <AREA01> ID card ban to the two newcomers. It seems to
be causing unexpected difficulties.
<SUBJECT 23>: Why? It's just an extension of our current
policy.
95: The snag is, that some of THEIR agents have picked up on the
it- they're trying to argue that the process should be reversed!
23: That's impossible! What possible logical reason could they
put forward for that?
95: Something to do with it being a detraction from unity- which
is what we're "supposed" to be working towards,
officially, anyway.
23: That'll get nowhere- who would listen?
95: Apparently this was received at the highest level- from THEIR
point of view it seems almost reasonable that their ID cards
should be universally accepted, rather than not at all. THEY're
making it sound extremely plausible. We may end up being isolated
over this measure!
23: That's completely unacceptable, and, of course, we won't let
it through. We can't allow THEM any concessions whatsoever. What
on Earth brought about this turn of events?
95: I think it was our trying to get the two newcomers to reverse
their policy about accepting THEIR ID cards...
